I don't know, Ken . . . IM's have given me bad experiences, but maybe that was the service provider's problem. At any rate, right now I would say no IM's.

Yes, yes, yes and yes! So many times I would be online and see others on the forum at the same time, but with no real way to reach out and say hello. If it is not too expensive to add, I know many of us would greatly appreciate it.

I like having IM but only if it is severly policed: such as activly posting forum members only: the tribe's destroyed forum is way over 25% taken over by fake accounts pointing to porn, etc.

I agree, although most of us are rather free spirits, I think we should have some stout rules appled in this area. We definately don't want another hacked forum, especially one as great as this one. Maybe it can be kept somewhat seperate, like a link to another page. i really don't know amything about how such things work, but I think together we can find the right way

Wow, this needs some carefully thinking in how to express myself.
I believe you guys have already came-up with the correct answers .... Very Happy

This Forum was started to give the Didjshop visitors a place to exchange information, knowledge and experience. To ask and answer the questions of other didge lovers.

Due to the fact that a Forum (it's contents that is) can also cause damage to the carefully build-up good image of the Didjshop we like to have an as good as possible control system on this same Forum.
One way of loosing control would be an Instant Messenger (IM) ...... Shocked

We can't control the traffic on such a IM.
On the other hand an IM will also cause the lost of a lot of the information expelled between members for the visitors who are not present at the time of the discussion.
For that reason we will not implement an IM in this Forum

On the other hand the Didjshop has created DIDJNET!
In Didjnet you can meet and greet other didge loving people!
If their ICQ number is given you can find them easel with any free messenger software available on the Internet.
For that reason this Forum is partly integrated into Didjnet.
With the same user ID / Password as used in Didjnet you can log in to this Forum. They use the same database.

I hope that you will understand that for those reasons an IM will not be an option for the Didjshop.

I can understand your reasons for not wanting to implement an IM service. I think what has been created is a good compromise. I would hate to do anything that would jeopordize the good thing we have going here. It never hurts to bring up the topic though.

fair enough Bonzo, it was worth asking. Next question then is, how about an email facillity, ie each member having in their profile a little button where you can send a private email to that person, which will be delivered either to their own inbox on this server, or to their own private email address, which of course will be kept hidden to all except mods and the site owners. This way we can send eachother email and know one gets their email address disclosed to prying eyes. also, if anyone has hotmail etc, why not exchange addresses, then you can chat to your hearts content.

You only get answered if the other member empties his box.
On the other hand a simular option is available in Didjnet!
Why not discover Didjnet and leave this Forum for what it is ..... Laughing

If you all sign-up in Didjnet this problem is over. Didjnet is specially designed to meet and greet with local didgefriends or friends far, far away! It’s all up to you!
