Hi all
New member here. I'm putting together the list of equipment i need to do a live performance set, involving looping didj's and triggering drums.
I'm looking for a solution to mic up 3 didgeridoos on stage. I want as minimal equipment as possible. So dont want to have 3 didj stands n 3 mic stands!
1 does anyone know of a stand which allows me to have multi didjs on.
2 does anyone have expirience attaching mics to the end of didjs, a clip onto the end of the bell for example.
hope somebody can help.
Many thanks

I have noted that the really good didjes resonate for a few seconds after you quit playing. To hear this, quit blowing and turn your ear to the mouth piece. All my didjshop high concert sticks have this quality. I believe this resonance also helps playing very softly, almost to the point where you can't hear, but the stick continues to vibrate at extremely low air flow. I value this bottom dynamic as much as rated loudness. Some really good sticks have great dynamic range, from a whisper to a roar.... but not all, I have a very good high G that plays loudly and resonates well, but can't really be played at a whisper. Still this high G continues to resonate after I quit blowing, so contradicts my thought that resonance helps playing softly ... maybe it is related to length?
Just some observation for those interested! bongo, USA

Hey guys,
I have been practicing bounce breathing for a while but then didn't have time to play anymore due to family problems and other things. I have been going through rough time but recently I picked up the didge again and tried to bounce. Since I have no reference at the moment, no one to tell me right or wrong I need your judgement. Do you think this is ok? I kinda think I am doing something wrong. You know the quick inhale doesn't come automatically. I still have to concentrate and everytime I do inhale the sound changes for a second...maybe you have an explanation.
Any comments more than welcome...

I've been trying to post to my original message but for some reason I keep getting a error message that states I followed a wrong link, so I figure I'll try a new post.
(Bazza) Barry, Here's the sound bite you asked on my progress. The first is a 1min 30sec drone to show you my CBing. The other rhythms that I'll post next are one's I learned from watching Markus Meurer on YouTube. Sorry for the bad sound quality I'm sure it'll get better.

Hello all,
After a pause and many many months of practicing I worked out the sixth episode in my Bible Didj Project. I used a new low G and a new E didge this time, PC synthesizers, a new acoustic guitar and a recorder (the cheap flute). I invested in better hardware and the recording was done in 24 bits/96 KHz.
As always I am not perfectly satisfied and could use some hints.
There is a spiritual/symbolical meaning to everything I record. I suggest that purely religious comments could better be done using private mail. Personally I have some doubts if the E didge conveys much of what it intends to do.
You find the new piece on the page mentioned at the footage.
On that page are also explanations of the symbolism used (and a link to my email address).
Best regards,
Clemens van Brunschot

I hope I'm allowed to ask about where to find a cd on the forum. If not, I apologize. I picked 'Advanced Playing', because, well, it is. Anyway, I wondered if anyone knew an outlet that is selling Resonance by Sands and Cloake (1997?). I've looked around an haven't found a place. I've heard a few samples and would really like to hear more and work towards playing like that (any pointers to techniques they use would be quite appreciated as well). I play djembe regularly and my drumming partner is quite willing to mix in the didge but I want to improve my chops so I don't scare him away.

First of all: Hi all I'm new here haha...
I've got a question about integrating high pitched barks into a fitting rhythm... In about 4 weeks I've got my first group performance. In that performance, there is also a space left for a solo for each player...
Even tho I can manage to get my howls, barks etc. out, I dont get them out as strong as I'd like when trying to building them into a rythm.
For some reason it just get's softer/lower.. I dont know if it has got anything to do with my natural bary white soundalike bassy voice when regularly talking lol..
But I was just wondering if there are some people here that can hand me a very basic rythm with integrated vocals which I can practice, and so I can get a feel about how it's supposed to be done?
(Ofcource this question has all to do with spicing up my first solo performance haha) I just want to learn something new to push myself more to the limit and keep it interesting...
My own idea was to build it up.. so starting with a flat drone, going into overtones, growl a bit, building it up to a huge tension with a large scream.... And then starting with a tight rhythm (so far I still can manage it).. Now only where to put the "barks" and especially what the easiest word is to "shout in" to get the highest pitched bark which is short, fast, and closed, so I can keep the same rythm easily so it will fit in the piece ... I hope I'm clear enough so you can get an idea of what I''m trying to achieve ....
Greetings Wolfie

I am told it was crafted and painted by the son of William King, Rodney "Jungala" King around 2010. It's a C# and made of Woolybutt Euc. On the inside of the bell it has written in it RK4 which I think is the bell size and initials of the artist. It's written twice though but has changed hands at least once before I bought it.

My Didjeridus
The one on the left (with the dot art) is Teak. Made in Indonesia (I think) in D.
The plain one is Eucalyptus in C
The 2 on the right I made from 2" ABS
The mouthpiece is removable and attaches to 4 different extensions (high F, D, C and low A)

Well, after a year of working on it (and some frustrating incidents with idiots who chipped the bell and then broke the whole thing in half!!), I finally finished my first clay misucal instrument, a porcelain didj:
You can't really see the detail very well. It has a huge leaf imprinted in the bell--you can sort of see the main vein running up the middle. there's another leaf in the green band, and two tiny leaves at the top (they just look like brown smudges in the pic). The mouthpiece was supposed to be purple, but the color burned out--the kiln must've gotten a little too hot.
I glued the halves together and plan to wrap some leather or something over the joint. I can't believe they fit together after being fired separately--twice!
My problem now is that I have no idea how to play this thing...anyone near Salem, Oregon want to come test this didj for me??

Hello all...I thought I would share the story of my new didgeridoo...
I was travelling with a friend in Australia, backpacking our way to the various traveller's destinations of the beautiful eastern coast of OZ. We made it to Hervey Bay, QSL, a place where you can reach the glorious Fraser Island from. We went over for a 2 night, 3 day excursion which was amazing until we reached a place called Lake Wabby...This a a natural lake with giant sand dunes leading right to the waters edge. I have posted a great video on youtube.com of this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTRIoPPSdLY) Anyways, being tourists and excited to be there, my friend and I ran down these dunes at top speed into the water. As my luck should have it I ended up breaking my ankle upon entry to the water...
So this brings me to the didge story. I was stuck in Hervey Bay with a cast on my left ankle and feeling a bit depressed, realizing I desperatly needed an activity to pass the time. As I crutched my way to the pool at the back of the hostel one day, I heard a recognizable sound in the air which could only be the harmonized vibrations from that of a didgeridoo. Sure enough, a didge maker named Justin was playing for some Germans poolside where I hobbled to, mesmorized by his skill level and eccentric personality. I spent the next 7 weeks carving and selling didges for him at his house and the hostel. While at his house one day, a didge caught my eye, with the detailed carvings of a snake near the mouthpiece. I picked up the didge and at first breath, felt an instant connection with the instrument. It was as if this didge was made for me! I continued to put in some work on it, sheelaking (varnish) and carving other symbols such as kangaroo prints and the word Yidaki (aboriginal for didgeridoo). As a token for my efforts, he presented me with the didge upon my departure from the small beach town. I will never forget my experience in Hervey Bay, and I have my favourite didge as a constant reminder of my interesting and character-testing experience.
Didge on my brothers, didge on...

Hi folks !
Here is a 6 year old picture of the didjs I had at that time.
This is my first Didjeridu ! Made of PVC and painted with different tones of brown painting... it sounds, well, like PVC !
This is my 1st home-made bamboo didj. I had cut the bamboo at each one of his knots for easier "piercing through", then glued it back together... This didj was twice as long but 3 of the 6 parts broke up. It then became this small bee'buzzing didj' ! Today, the last part exploded due to variations of air humidity and the didj doesn't make sound anymore
This is my 2nd bamboo didj. Big thick bamboo there, but quite short in lenth... And the mouthpiece was hard to model... Two years ago, I have withdrawn the mouthpiece and stuck the top on the 1st PVC didj on this on to make it longer, but it didn't work well... So I have messed up 2 didjs and never found time and envy to repair them both (their sound being not so well).
My 3rd Bamboo didj... The best one ! For this one, I've used a long building-site metal stem (?) to pierce the knots. Quite hard to do but worth it ! Then I've scrapped the outside and decorated it with Mayan glyphs and drawings with a permanent marker. Mouthpiece in bee's wax (like the others). This didj is still my favourite didj (enven if I found out recently that it cracked a little on the bottom part)
My 4th Bamboo didj... A great big, long, large, thick piece of bamboo ! Ripped the knots with the same metal stem (very hard this one) and leaved it raw + bee's wax mouthpiece.
Only a few month later, it exploded on its full lenth (~2 meters !) all at once in the middle of the night. I was partying with friends, we saw a big white flash and a astounding shock sound. Neighbours banged on the walls to tell us to quit making loud noises like this one !!! Quite unbelievable, but true !
Now, I've cut it in pieces and it serves as a support for the other didjes (with small bits of wood+rope perpendicularily stuck into it)
These are the didjeridus I have today.
On the left it's a didj I bought in France made of "meleze" timber. It has been cut in half in lenght, hollowed and glued back together... not quite traditionnal, uh ? But it's really well done, one can merely see the split, and it sounds great !
Big one in the middle is my 3rd Bamboo one !
Next to it is an Indonesian one... Very heavy, not so cute.
Does not sound great at all (except for the shouts).
There is a small rectangular opening in the centre, they must have drilled it from both ends and joined txe two non-parallel drills in the center through this hole. Then fix the hole with a rectangular piece of wood and paint over it. Cheap... If you look on one end of the didj, you cannot even see the light on the other end ! Shameful !!!
On extreme right, my broken 1st bamboo didj...
And on the floor, the other instruments I have (I love guimbardes too ! = Jew's harps)
Now I'm waiting for my new REAL ABORIGINAL TERMITE-HOLLOWED DIDJERIDU !!! As well as clapsticks and bull roarer !
By the way, I have recorded some musics (didj+djembe+guimbarde) for my Cartoon's website (Yamaya 2012), you're welcome to listen and leave a comment in my blog ! Thnx

I found my new Didgeridoo online a few weeks ago and decided to pick it up. I was mainly looking at it for a nice decorative piece, considering the price, but was slightly hoping it would be playable. It's the short one on the left.. Euc in G 2.. very hard to play, at least for me. I really have to keep the volume of air going through it, for it to play well. It also doesnt carry harmonics very well, unfortunately. Oh well... Soon will be my first Didjshop purchase =D Left to Right is the Euc in G2, Bamboo in D2, and my favorite, my Euc in Db2.

Thought I would post a link to some pages about my ABS didgeridoo collection. Plans, notes and sound samples are available there:
http://ca.geocities.com/woodybwet/didges.html
Besides my ABS collection I have a bamboo didge that I bought in Portugal of all places. I can never resist trying out didges wherever I see them. The bamboo in D from Portugal was actually the best bamboo I've ever played, so I couldn't resist buying it.
My first didge is a straight cylindrical tourister in F that a friend brought back for me from Australia. Not a good instrument for learning on, as it turned out, but now that I have some experience, I play it once in a while. I particularly like the sounds I get from it using the tongue droning technique that I mentioned in the "Tongue Vibration" thread.
Best Wishes,
Woody

Does anyone know who might sell Agave that has been dried and not slit open to make a didge?
I live in Panhandle of Florida, and would love to come to Arizona or somewhere to harvest some Agave to make my own Didgeridoo. Until then looking for someone that may live in the area and would be willing to sell some that has not been cut open?
Please contact me if you can or know someone, Cost and shipping.
Appreciate it!

What do you think ? Should I do it again ?
Tony, don't pull the current beeswax mouthpiece off (i.e if you haven't done so already ...) . You can easily change it. Blow it warm with a hair dryer from 20 cm (not melting the outside - otherwise wait half a minute) and form it any way you like. You will be amazed what you can do. You can only exert power if the material is pliable, of course. And yo must be careful with power that might separate the whole construction from the didge.

Hello!
I am Didge crafter and player from California and I'm reaching out to ask for help to support and spread the word on a documentary film on didgeridoo that I am making. It begins with my personal journey and how this instrument has shaped my life, and will also cover a journey as it takes me through India and Nepal in the spring, where a series of life changing events began for me a decade ago.
There is more information on our Indiegogo page, however the campaign is not for our monetary gain, as much of what's raised will be donated to charity.
Please take a moment to visit the Indiegogo page, and ultimately help us spread the word!
Keep didgin!

Hi to everyone!
I'm Christian Muela, a didjeridoo player from Italy. I'm writing here to show you my last album, which is DIDJERIBILE, elettronic and didjeridoo promoted thanks to Ephedrina netlabel.
It's released in creative commons license and this mean that you are free to share as you like, it's non-commercial and if you want you could work on it downloading it in jamendo looking for DIDJERIBILE
So didjeridoo people, what you think about this?
Best regards

Hello, all,
I would like all of you to check the settings in your registration for Didjshop and see what your settings are for your gender. For some reason we have a great number of members who have male names but show as female in the profile.
Thanks,
