The following is from Svargo in his latest Didjshop newsletter. I don't know much about Atkin's views, but Hudson has been outspoken for indigenous rights and critical of Bush and his war. Could his name be red-flagged? This is ridiculous!
>>For the second time in the last six month a world-renown Aboriginal didj player has been refused entry to the USA: I just heard that David Hudson recently arrived in the US as part of his latest concert tour when he was handcuffed, placed in detention, treated like a common criminal and deported to Australia. Last December Mark Atkins suffered
the same fate. In both cases the problem were minor visa
irregularities seemingly caused by the American embassies issuing the visas. We know that in Mark Atkins case the US immigration officials refused to call the American embassy to clarify the problem. It is appalling to have world-renown Aborigines - which happen to be citizens of Americas most faithful ally - treated in such a demeaning way and we would like to ask all Americans among you to protest to your political representatives about the treatment of Mark and David so hopefully this sort of thing does not happen again. Losing thousands of dollars does not
encourage these guys to plan for more USA concerts... So
please do speak up for them... Thanks<<
