Welcome to the forum, David. There are many on here that can answer your questions. Offhand, I wouldn't try to varnish over wax. The wax should protect the wood. As far as varnishing (re-varnishing) the inside, I understand it may brighten up the tone a bit but, on the other hand, if it doesn't need it, why do it?
