Ten Canoes is an excellent film by Rolf De Heer. It is filmed in indigenous Aboriginal languages with english subtitles, with a cast of indigenous Aboriginals.

It is basically a story telling film, recounting the myths of the ancestors and tribal law. The backdrop is the annual goose egg hunt and the story of a young initiate undergoing his first adventure, under the guidance of an eleder. The elder tells him the story of one of his ancestors, which is full of mythology and gives an excellent insight into how they used to live.
